A new café and bar is set to open in Kendal town centre next month in an empty premises.
High House Bars Ltd plans to turn the two-storey premises that was Slate Bar in Wainwright's Yard into a café and bar.
Located at number five, Elsewhere Bar looks set to take over both floors.
According to plans submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council, the ground floor will be used as the main café and bar area selling snacks, alcohol and soft drinks.
Floor plans for the glass-fronted property show around half a dozen two-seater tables and two bars with accompanying stools.
There is also a kitchen in the far back left corner opposite the central door.
Stairs lead up to the first floor which will be used as extra space for events nights - with a board game night given as an example.
There is also a pool table shown along with comfy sofas and a coffee table.
Proprietors applied for a licence to serve alcohol both on and off the premises.
They have also applied to the council to facilitate live music indoors as well as recorded music.
There may also be some special New Year's Eve events planned as the application includes for permission to open later on New Year's Eve with last orders called at 1am and a 1:30am close on New Year’s Day.
The premises have been empty since 2020 when the owners of the previous Slate Bar left after around five years of business.
