NEWSQUEST Cumbria will be well represented at this year's Regional Press Awards.
The awards presentation and lunch will showcase and celebrate the most innovative, exciting and erudite journalists working around the UK, as well as recognising the publications that set new standards for quality.
Several journalists will be flying the flag for Cumbria at Quaglino's, Bury Street, London on Tuesday.
Dan Taylor, chief reporter at The Mail, and Phil Coleman, chief reporter for the News & Star, will battle it out to be named the Crime & Investigative Reporter of the Year.
Phil has also been shortlisted in the Reporter of the Year (Daily) category.
Multi-award-winning reporter Jon Colman, who covers Carlisle United, is on the Sports Journalist of the Year shortlist.
And Times and Star chief reporter Bridget Dempsey has been shortlisted for the Cathryn Nicoll award – which is announced on the day – to reward ‘brilliant interviewing and feature writing by young journalists’ and comes with a cash prize of £500.
Joy Yates, regional editor for Newsquest Cumbria, said: "I am delighted Newsquest Cumbria journalists have been deservedly shortlisted in categories of these prestigious awards. It is testament to their hard work, talent and tenacity and to be shortlisted is an honour in itself."
