A FORMER Royal Marine Commando has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Grange and Cartmel's upcoming council by-election.
Andy Hull lives in Grange and owns a local business, according to the party.
The by-election will be held after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Pete Endsor due to family ill health.
Mr Hull's main priorities are to improve opportunities for young people and make the roads safer, said the party. He also wants to promote restoring Grange Lido and to build a walking and cycling trail across Morecambe Bay from Arnside.
The Liberal Democrat MP Tim Farron said: "I want to pay tribute to Pete Endsor who has worked tirelessly over many years for people in Grange and across the Cartmel Peninsula.
"Pete’s will be big shoes to fill but in Andy Hull we have a brilliant candidate who will roll up his sleeves and work his socks off for local residents."
Mr Hull said: “I’m honoured to be standing to represent the area that I’m very proud to call home."
The by-election will be on May 2.
