THE Lake District is known as a place of outstanding natural beauty with many a couple enjoying a romantic break and celebrating love in the county.
We have taken a look at five famous couples who have enjoyed love in the Lake District over the years.
Heather Mills and Paul McCartney
The celebrity couple celebrated their love of the Lake District on a staycation at Sharrow Bay back in 2001.
After lunch at the Sharrow Bay Hotel in Ullswater, he pulled out a sapphire ring and popped the question.
Speaking to a national paper at the time, McCartney said: “When I proposed I was a bit nervous but I managed. We've had a good reception from relatives and friends and from the media.”
Unfortunately, the marriage later ended.
Molly Mae Hague and Tommy Fury
Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury enjoyed a weekend break to Keswick for Valentines Day in 2022 - with Molly saying the Lakes is one of her 'favourite places'.
The couple took the break after Molly 'surprised' Tommy with a night away to Keswick's Lodore Falls Hotel on the shores of Derwentwater.
Molly and Tommy enjoyed a meal at the hotel's restaurant before using the spa today.
Taylor Swift and Harry Styles
Harry Styles and Taylor Swift took a trip to the Lakes, travelling to Bowness on Windermere back in 2012.
They stopped by several shops in the area, such as the Beatrix Potter nursery shop.
Taylor loves the Lake District so much that she decided to dedicate a song from her album to it.
Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan
During a pre-Christmas Lakes break in January 2023, the pair opted to stay at In the Vale - a small group of 'handcrafted bespoke cabins' based at Birkett Mire, a working Lake District hill farm.
Romeo, who plays as a forward for MLS Next Pro club Inter Miami II, booked to stay in 'The Fawn' for two nights.
Romeo, the son of football legend David Beckham, posted highlights from his trip with his girlfriend Mia Reagan to his 3.6 million followers on Instagram.
David Hasselhoff
Hollywood celeb David Hasslehoff said the Lakes are the perfect place to ‘sigh and look into a lover’s eyes’.

Subsequently, in 2020 to promote tourism in the area, he posted this to the Lake District website: "The lake, the hotel, Holbeck Ghyll… the time we spent in Cumbria was magical. Almost like being far far away in a calm serene place of beauty - A place to sigh and look into a lover’s eyes”.
