PLANS have been put forward to build a spa and restaurant facility at a holiday park near Penrith.

The proposed development intends to offer high-end facilities to park customers at Ullswater Heights Holiday Lodge and Home Park, Flusco.

The application has been put forward by Leisure Resorts Ltd to the Westmorland & Furness planning committee on December 15.

The planned development looks to provide on-site facilities for park users, and is a modification from an earlier spa which was approved.

The previous design consisted of small, individual treatment units totaling a building footprint of 485sqm.

However, the revised proposal seeks to consolidate all features into a single structure with a footprint of 1,233sqm, representing an increased footprint of 748sqm.

It is proposed that the spa be available for use by the general public as well as those staying overnight at Ullswater Heights, and to so, 12 full-time staff members would be brought on board.

Despite these plans, Dacre Parish Council has raised objections to the proposal on several grounds.

The concerns range from potential damage or obstruction to the access of land including Whinbarrow and Blencow Quarry, to already strained sewage capacity that occasionally fails at Newbiggin due to the system being at full capacity.
