READERS have reported seeing a ‘ball of fire’ in the skies above Cumbria tonight.
One said what appeared to be a shooting star trailed through the sky over Ulverston.
Another said: ‘I saw something around 4.30 on my way home from work, it wasn't a shooting star, it wasn't a plane, it was going down it was a really bright orange coloured light. So strange, I thought it was a UFO at first.’
Others suggested it was the Starlink satellite but videos posted on social media appear to back up the shooting star sighting.
A video posted to X, formerly Twitter, shows a ball of light over Knutsford in Cheshire.
