Ghost hunters were called to a pub in Kendal to help 'contact' its resident spirit who was 'murdered' in the cellar.
The team from Paranormal Investigations Cumbria visited at the request of pub landlord Scott Dawson.
The spirit, believed to be of the name Edward, is a known feature of the Ring O' Bells pub.
The historic public house is over 280 years old and was built in 1741 on consecrated ground.
For a long time, staff say they have experienced glasses being knocked off the tables, cold spots, strange noises in the night and full body apparitions.
Comedian Josh Widdicombe, from TV show Hold the Front Page, went to the pub previously with the team to try to find him.
Although they managed to find 11 spirits during the previous investigation in September last year, Edward was still 'missing in action'.
The team of six now believe that have now made contact with the elusive spirit who came through during an automatic writing exercise on a planchette.
"He said he'd just been away for a while," said investigator and psychic medium, Sarah Simmons. "His life ended very sadly at the age of 19.
"We believe he was murdered in the cellar. Edward was apparently found by his mum and he's still here because he feels like he has unfinished business.
"He wants to get a message to his mum to tell her what happened - he even wrote her name out in name in full."
As well as Edward, a little girl often appears who speaks to people.
Sarah said: "We started in one of the bedrooms upstairs where the little girl had been seen and we got dowsing rods communication with a lass called Elsie.
"Our medium also picked up a lady in a black dress with white cuffs and collar who roams the corridors looking for her daughter. We didn't hear it at the time but we were also told to get out by a male disembodied voice."
"In the living room, we heard knocks and bangs from the corridor almost straight away - even on request. We sent this evidence to the landlord and he said this is what hears all the time - even when the pub is closed."
