TWO brothers are looking forward to giving a new life to a chippy reopening under their management.
Cem Oktem and his brother Cihan Oktem are hoping to open Jingling Lane Fish & Chips in Kirkby Lonsdale later this month.
This comes after the business partners, who operate under Otkem Kitchens, announced in June that they will be rebranding the chippy - being the fourth shop owned by the pair.
Cem Oktem explained that since summer they have been refurbishing the premises to make them as identical as possible to their other shops across Cumbria and Lancashire.
"The shop will be unrecognisable with the work that we have carried out," he said.
"The standard and the quality of the food and the service is going to be completely different - it will be fantastic."
When asked what Kirkby Lonsdale residents can expect from the new shop, Mr Oktem said: "High-quality fish and chips with a smile and hoping to make a shop that the locals are very proud of.
"There is a lot of tourism, so hopefully people will travel from far and wide for them. We are looking forward to get it open."
The manager hopes to open the doors in the next couple of weeks.
He said: "There are still a few bits and pieces that we need to finish off and then get some staff in and trained up and ready to go.
"We are going to be open seven days a week, hopefully, lunch times and tea times every day."
Öktem Kitchens has been in the industry for 15 years after taking over Packet Bridge Fish and Chips in Bolton Le Sands back in February 2008. The second site, Westgate Fish & Chips, opened in Morecambe in November 2019.
In April last year, Cem Oktem and his brother also opened the Priory Plaice Fish and Chips Shop in Ulverston in April.
"We are going to settle down with four shops this time and see how we go, and from there, we are going to see how we can venture forward from here," concluded the manager.
The team is still looking into the recruitment process, with vacancies still waiting to be filled.
