A woman from Barrow has managed to raise money for a local hospice by crocheting Christmas decorations.

Lisa Stronach saw an appeal made by St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston in which the charity asked for volunteers with the specific skillset.

She decided to get involved as a way of remembering her friend Guy Brocklebank, who was looked after by the hospice before his death.

After making the decorations Lisa grafted by selling them to her friends and by displaying them in her sister's café, the Fig Tree in Barrow.

On her own, Lisa raised £437 for the charity, a total which will eventually be added to the sum raised by the hospice through their overall crocheting scheme.

Back in December, they teamed up with the Stollers branch in Barrow, a furniture shop, to sell the knitted designs to customers.
