Ulverston Fantasy Book Club is holding its first meeting later this month.

The club will provide a space for book lovers to meet and talk about their chosen ‘Book of the Month’.

The  club has been organised by 25 year old Beth Linnane, who decided to start a book club because of her love of reading.

Beth has lived in the area since she was ten years old but had no one to talk to about all of the books she found, which led to her wanting to create a space for fantasy book lovers to meet, chat and interact.

In the past week people have been voting for their first book of the month and fom among five popular novels The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake has been chosen.

Beth said she hopes the meetings are a place to meet people and make friends with people who share the same hobby.

She said: “I want to build a safe space for people to gather and discuss and debate their favourite books and just have fun sharing their thoughts and experiences.”

On the last Tuesday of each month, the group will gather to discuss and debate their chosen title.

The first meeting of Ulverston Fantasy Book Club will take place on Tuesday January 30 at the Starbucks on Beehive Business Park at 6:30pm.

“I'd hope to have about 20 people at the first meeting, but we'll have to wait and see,” Beth said.

“We may not meet here every month, we may look for an alternative spot if this one doesn't work out."

The Facebook page for Ulverston Fantasy Book Club currently has 50 likes and 62 followers and is open to everyone.

“To join you just need to show up,” Beth said. “There's no joining fee at the moment and hopefully, if we can meet somewhere with no booking fee, we can keep it that way.”

The times and locations of meetings may vary so the best way to keep up to date is by checking the Facebook page.
