With Dry Veganuary underway, the best vegan restaurants and alcohol-free bars in the Lake District have been revealed.
Famed for its food and drink scene, the Lake District is seeing a burgeoning demand for vegan and alcohol-free options, with Google searches for such terms rising by 100% over the past year.
The browsers sees a total volume of 28.6 thousands monthly searches relating to Veganuary and 136 frequently asked question, which includes the question "How to go vegan in Veganuary?" searched double the amount of times.
In that spirit, holiday company Pure Leisure Group has made a list of the best vegan and dry options in the area this January.
The Pheasant Inn
One recommended is The Pheasant Inn in the South Lakeland village of Allithwaite is a family-run restaurant, open since 2005, and a popular spot for vegan dishes.
"Going for quality over quantity, this restaurant usually has two vegan dishes at a time, but they come highly recommended by Lake District foodies," says a spokesperson for Pure Leisure.
The Fizzy Tarté
Windemere's The Fizzy Tarté is another must-visit, as it offers mocktails and vegan alternatives.
The mixture of 'Nada Colada' and 'Safe Sex on the Beach' has proved popular, propelling the art-deco restaurant to gain a following of 14.6 thousand people on Instagram.
Hales of Cartmel
For those with a sweet tooth, Hales of Cartmel in Grange-over-Sands is recommended, offering a large selection of vegan ice creams including tiramisu, Biscoff, salted caramel, and their signature, Thunder and Lightning.
Chesters By The River
If you're searching for countryside charm, Chesters By The River, offers a range of nearby-sourced vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as some stunning views from an outside seating area.
The café has over 19,000 followers on Instagram, thanks to its feed of picturesque photos of its food and Lake District views alike.
Zeffirellis
For Italian food enthusiasts, vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurant Zeffirellis in Ambleside could be your favourite Dry Veganuary spot.
Opened 40 years ago, the award-winning restaurant pairs its plant-based menu with a cinema and jazz bar, offering two course meals and a cinema seat for under £30.
