A number of shops and supermarkets in and around Barrow are closing over the Christmas period, here is a roundup of all the holiday hours at the biggest stores.

If you have any last minute shopping to buy for the big Christmas Dinner, or one final gift to get, it’s good to know when and where you can go.

 

There are three Aldi stores around Furness, one at Beehive Business Park in Ulverston and two in Barrow, at Hollywood Retail Park and one at 148 Risedale Road. Over the festive period, they will be completely closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. All three shops are keeping to the same holiday opening times from Saturday December 23, through to Monday January 1, 2024.

Asda Superstore at Walney Retail Park in Barrow has varied opening and closing times over the next week, but it is only shut on Monday for Christmas Day. The shop has later opening times in place on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day.

Across the carpark, Home Bargains is shutting for three days over the holidays, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. But it will open every day in between Boxing Day and New Year from 8am to early evening.

Although it is shut on Christmas Day, the big Tesco Extra at Corner House Park in Barrow largely keeps to normal opening times, except for Boxing Day and New Year’s Day when the store will be opening slightly later, at 9am and closing a bit earlier than usual, at 6pm.

At the other end of the retail park, B&M on Hindpool Road is closed on Christmas Day while offering reduced hours on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Morrisons plans to open everyday between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve from 7am to 9pm. The shop is shut for Christmas Day and will open later than usual on Tuesday 26 and Sunday 31 December as well as Monday January 1.

M&S at Beehive Business Park in Ulverston is closing for Christmas, Boxing and New Year’s Day but opens from 8am to 8pm from Wednesday December 27 to Saturday December 30.
