The Lakes Players are set to host a vibrant rendition of the pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.

The show will be filled with 'fantastic effects, musical numbers, and dazzling costumes'.

The performances will take place at The Lakes School in Windermere from 7pm between January 24-27, with matinee shows at 1pm on January 27 and 28.

Fans of the theatre group can anticipate a magical fairytale-like experience, with the production promising 'flashes and bangs galore'.

Last year the show had to be adapted due to a shortage of pyrotechnics, however, this year the show has 'managed to go big'.

Stewart Hart doubles as the director and producer for the pantomime, with talented newcomer Marie Lynchey playing the role of Beauty, and Claire Mckeever as Prince Hans.

Leading cast members include Nicky Woods as Nigella the Cook, Rob Timms as Muddles, Helen Ansell as the evil Crabosse, and Laura Slade as her sidekick Gob.

Kim Hayton returns as Queen Catnap, and Alex Wickens returns as Donkey.

Elliott Mather plays the role of Vince the Valet, 'panto pro' Rachel Baines plays Fairy Lullaby, and newcomer Laura Scott plays Nanny Nap.

The villagers are Celia Stephens, Lucy Waight and Emma Grierson.

The pantomime has been intricately prepared since September, ensuring that The Lakes Players produce 'the most amateur professional panto in town'.

The dance routines are skilfully choreographed by Catherine Robinson, Rachel Baines, and the Miss Maria Dance School of Ambleside, while musical direction is handled by Nicky Woods.

With its mix of love, adventure, and humour, Sleeping Beauty is set to provide an entertaining theatrical experience.

Audiences will laugh at Muddles' jokes, wonder if Nigella the Cook will finally find the right soufflé recipe, and be spellbound by the quest of Prince Hans to wake Beauty with true love's kiss.
