A new independent shop is coming to Kendal next year as it joins the lineup of Spinning Jennies.
Penn, a lifestyle store, will stock only Cumbrian products created by some local artisans and makers when it arrives in the spring.
This is part of the project converting the former Beales building into separate shop units, a food hall, retail stalls, and flats.
A spokesperson for Spinning Jennies said: "The anticipation for our early 2024 opening continues to build, and we can't wait to introduce the Kendal community to these exceptional vendors."
Retail director Paul Tidswell has been travelling across the county, meeting crafters who are not currently selling their creations in Kendal.
Retail designer Anna Twyford has been working closely with Paul to create an original retail store that will enable Spinning Jennies to tell the story of over 30 makers and their creativity.
Geri Ward, who with her partner William Smith is behind the project, said construction work was progressing smoothly and the first phase was due to open early next year.
She added: “We are dedicated to crafting an inviting atmosphere that will soon transform the area into a hub for folks of all ages, both residents and guests alike.
“Spinning Jennies will be a haven for discovering Cumbrian treasures, thoughtfully crafted and served by local independent businesses."
Penn will sell kids-wear, homeware, outdoor lifestyle products, beauty and personal care products, and clothing and accessories.

The philosophy of the Spinning Jennies scheme, promoting solely Cumbrian businesses, was recently shown by the announcement that A Days Walk Farm Shop & Deli would also be joining the new retail space.
The first taste of this new development will come in December when a pop-up shop of the deli opens on Finkle Street in what is currently the sales office before the grand opening next year.
