OLD pupils, staff and friends of theformer Milnthorpe Secondary School are being asked to hunt out memorabiliato use in a unique exhibition.
The present Dallam School ismarking the Millennium by holding a series of reunions and exhibitions,with the first taking place from April 3 to 14.
The formerMilnthorpe Secondary School and Milnthorpe Community College, which was inexistence from 1951 to 1984, came together with Heversham Grammar Schoolto form the present Dallam School.
An exhibition of oldphotographs, reports, press cuttings, books, badges, items of uniform andother memorabilia from Milnthorpe Secondary School will be opened by JoyceHoggarth, former deputy head and acting head, on Monday, April 3. Theexhibition will be open over the following fortnight.
To makethe event even more special, a buffet and reception will take place onSaturday, April 8, for old friends, class mates and colleagues to catchup. Former head teacher Vic Gray will be the special guest, and will sharememories and anecdotes from his time at the school.
Deputyhead teacher at Dallam, Martin Hayhurst, would love to hear from anyonewho would like to come along to the reunion, or who could lend items forthe exhibition.
"It's really to encourage any ex-pupils,ex-members of staff, teaching or non-teaching, and everybody connected tothe school to come along and enjoy themselves," he said.
"Wethought it was a good way to mark the Millennium for the school, and alsoit's never been done before, as far as we are aware, in the history of theschool."
Later in the year, reunion events and exhibitionswill be held for former staff and pupils of Heversham Grammar School,which dates back to the 17th Century, and of Dallam School, which willfocus on memories from 1984 onwards.
