A journey through the music of Christmas will be showcased in Kendal through the work of an Ivor Novello-winning composer.
Martin Green, part of the band Lau, will tell the story of Christmas through the ages with folk and jazz music on December 9 at the Brewery Arts.
He will be joined by Laura Jurd of Mercury Prize-shortlisted Dinosaur on the trumpet, and Ultan O’Brien on the fiddle.
From ancient pagan rituals to the present day, Lighting The Dark takes a musical look at how society has gotten through the winter over the last thousand years.
The show will include original takes on classic Christmas hits, with Green the perfect man for the job following his four BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Group as part of Lau.
Tickets starting from £24.50 can be bought here, with the performance starting at 7:30pm.
