German cuisine and culture has come to Kirkby Lonsdale for the weekend as a local pub kickstarted its annual Oktoberfest celebrations.

The event is being run by the Highwayman Inn, building upon the first beer and food festival they organised last year.

Starting on Friday, October 13, and running until Sunday, October 15, the event will give locals the chance to try German steins and bratwurst.

A spokesperson said: "We had a blast last year celebrating our first ever Oktoberfest at The Highwayman , so much so we have made it even bigger and better this year.

"We are so excited for this, I think we will even persuade Aimee and Daisy to get the German dresses back on and even possibly get Tim back in the Lederhosen."

Bratwurst and Bingo starts on Friday night from 7:30pm, with more celebrations following across Saturday and Sunday.
