The five best places in the Lake District to admire the changing of the seasons have been named.
The guide has been created by Windermere Marina Village for those who love to see the leaves change as autumn takes hold.
Ullswater came out on top, fending off competition from Buttermere Valley and Coniston, with Ambleside being represented twice in the list.
John Baker, Managing Director at Windermere Village Marina said: “Not only are there spectacular scenic displays with the changing colours, but the crisp autumn weather and the enchanting autumn light add to the seasonal charm.
"There are so many incredible walking routes in the region, many of which are home to a variety of tree species displaying beautiful autumnal colours”.
1. Ullswater
The second largest lake, Ullswater is surrounded by woodlands of oak, rowan, and Scots pine tree species.
You can take a cruise along the lake, or walk along the many trails to discover picture perfect spots of the autumn landscape.
2. Buttermere Valley
Surrounded by hills and mountains, Buttermere is a picturesque spot to witness the changing leaves reflected in the calm waters of the lake.
The circular lake walk offers a breathtaking view of autumnal foliage on the trees, but the hillsides and bracken are coloured with various shades of russet.
3. Langdale Valley
The guide says: "Blessed with rugged beauty, the pikes of Langdale valley provide a dramatic backdrop to the changing autumn leaves.
"Take a pit stop at one of the many local pubs to enjoy a warming tipple before venturing back out into nature."
4. Tarn Hows
This man made lake is surrounded by woodland and accessible walking paths, making it a popular spot to enjoy the autumnal changing for everyone.
With views of the pikes, you’ll be exploring forested tracks surrounded by golds and ambers as you make your way towards the tarn.
5. Grizedale Forest
This forest offers a spectacular display of autumn colours with its variety of tree species, including oak, beech, and birch.
There’s plenty to do for all the family with cycling trails and high ropes activities.
