A HOLIDAY coach had to be recovered on Monday (October 2) after the driver became wedged on a small wall outside Windermere Hotel.
The incident on Kendal Road happened around 4pm which saw the Caledonian Travel coach wedged well into the grounds of the hotel over the small stone wall.
The vehicle was stuck to the back wheel over both the cycle lane and the road hindering traffic.
Thwaite Lane was already closed off due to roadworks so traffic on the A591 was reduced to a crawl.
One man travelling to Keswick had his journey extended by two and a half hours.
Police and a recovery vehicle were sent to manage the situation.
A spokeperson for Caledonian Travel said: "This situation was caused unfortunately solely due to driver error from one of our highly experienced driving team.
"When this was reported we immediately liaised with a recovery company to assist.
"I am pleased to report that no other vehicles were involved in the incident and that there were no injuries or damage caused but we do of course apologise for any local delays that this unfortunate incident caused."
A spokesperson for Cumbria police said: "We were made aware at 4.15pm on October 2 and officers assisted with traffic management."
