A Lake District town has been named as the most 'Instagrammable' location in the UK.

Ambleside took first place in the top ten areas with the most views and shares on the social media platform.

The research was carried out by Parkdean Resorts, who analysed a number of Instagram reels and photos to identify which walking locations were the biggest hits.

Describing Ambleside, the group said: "A small village with stunning backdrops, this example of the perfect British countryside has plenty of quaint buildings surrounded by fall foliage, bringing an authentic cosy feel that will transform you into the autumn season."

With one reel gaining 257,627 views, Ambleside boasted figures that were over double the number of their closest rival, with Castleton in the Peak District finishing second.
