A group of ramblers in Kendal have finally got the gate they have been waiting for after two years.
In collaboration with the National Trust, Kendal Ramblers helped introduce the new entrance linking Scout Scar with Helsington Church.
They first raised the issue in 2021 when members Margaret and Dennis Pook noticed the lack of any suitable access onto the scar.
Since the pandemic, the group has been proactive in encouraging more of the local community to explore the natural surroundings of the county.
This has included contributing to local projects including the Smardale Viaduct restoration, the Canal Path Restoration Project and two bridge restorations following Storm Desmond.
They run a regular and varied programme of walks throughout the year and potential new recruits can get in touch by emailing Kendalramblers03@gmail.com or by visiting their website.
