Cumbria companies volunteered time and materials to start work on reinstating the Grand Stand at a local rugby club.
The companies, Wilson & Co Properties Ltd and L&W Wilson (Endmoor) Ltd, are both based in Endmoor and contributed to the restoration effort at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Union Football Club.
The stand had been out of use for over two years as it was in poor condition.
A range of materials and equipment was donated, including sand, stone, cement, mixers and timber to name a few.
Over 15 members of the companies' staff, in roles from scaffolding to painting, provided their time and effort in multiple visits to restore the stand to its original state.
They were fueled by refreshments provided by Peter Kyle from the club.
The bulk of timber and fixings were supplied by JT Atkinson Kendal, without charge, matching the aid given by Wilson & Co Properties and L&W Wilson (Endmoor).
More recently, the team completed the remaining tasks to finish the project.
Both Wilson & Co Properties and L&W Wilson (Endmoor) have proudly announced the completion of the Grand Stand.
In total, the project has received over 250 hours of donated labour, as well as all necessary materials and machinery.
Byron Wilson of both Wilson & Co Properties Ltd and L&W Wilson (Endmoor) said: ‘’It is within our ethos to work with local communities to benefit the areas that local people invest and live in and seeing what can be collectively achieved to help make improvements such as this make us proud to work with and know the people that we do.
"One of the main reasons we support Kirkby Lonsdale RUFC is that their actions strongly match our ethos across all areas of the club but especially with the Mini & Youth Rugby teams.
"The support and encouragement that they show the younger and future generation of our area is remarkable to see.
"It has been great to have the teams and JT Atkinson rally around to make the Grand Stand useable again, it should be a great asset to the club to have this facility back in use again especially for the elderly in the colder winter games."
All of those involved were invited back and attended the club for a special lunch, and were thanked by the Club President - John Hughes, and Club Chairman - Brian Gregory.
All the volunteers then stayed to watch the club’s game against Isle of Man - (IOM) where Kirkby Lonsdale RUFC took their first win of the season.
"Let us hope it is a sign of the season to come for our local club that we have been so proud to have been able to support,’’ added Mr Wilson.
