Westmorland County Show 2023 is set break records in its third year of moving to a two-day format. The sunshine on September 13 and 14 did wonders as people turned out in their droves from 8am.
Thousands of people attended the event that featured cows, horses and farming trade stalls. The showjumping ground proved as popular along with coffee stands, food vendors and traders selling farming equipment.
This year was also quite star-studded. Food Unwrapped presenter Matt Tebbett hosted a live cooking demonstration in The Cumbria Life Food Theatre to a packed-out audience whislt comedians Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar reported on all the gossip and big cat sightings for the Westmorland Gazette.
One of the oldest agicultural shows in the country seems to have outdone itself in many ways for 2023.
A spokesperson for Westmorland County Show said: "After Covid, moving to two days has been a great success. The final figures are yet to be tallied but we've already had a record number of entries for the Equine Village of around 700 which is up from last year.
"We're starting to see record numbers in other areas too. In terms of people attending, we're looking at around 37,000 with gate receipts up so far.
"We had 49 local schools with around 2,200 school children involved which is amazing for our educational element.
"Traders said they get to spend more time talking to people over two days and the Food Hall isn't as packed so customers get more time to try products."
