A GARDEN centre is hosting its annual Apple Weekend to celebrate the nation’s favourite fruit.

Beetham Nurseries will be hosting the event from October 6–8.

There will be artisan food and drink markets from local businesses in collaboration with the Kendal Farmers’ Market, fruit pressing, family fun and live music.

You can also bring along your own apples to have them pressed into juice to take away, try loose apples, or purchase favourites to take home and enjoy.

Apple expert Andy Gilchrist will be in attendance on October 8 to help customers identify any apples they bring in and to talk in The Marquee.

Children are invited to join free crafting sessions from 10 am on October 7 and pick up a Fairy Hunt card to search the Garden Centre for Beetham fairy doors to win special prizes, as well as colouring competitions in The Garden Café throughout the weekend.

For the gardeners, Beetham Nurseries will be offering over 40 varieties of apple and fruit trees for sale, with an exclusive 10% discount for all Garden Club members which can be joined in-store.

Beetham Nurseries’ managing director Stephen Abbit said: “As always, we are delighted to be hosting our ever-popular Apple Weekend here at Beetham Nurseries.

“Apple Weekend is now running across three days and offers a place for the local community to come and enjoy a variety of activities, and live music and to learn something new with us.

“We look forward to welcoming a new element to the event in 2023, with Kendal Farmers’ Market joining us for the three days, providing some of the best local produce Cumbria has to offer, which is something we are very passionate about.”
