A woman walking in Barbondale Gorge had to be helped by a rescue team after she slipped and injured herself.
The scrambler suffered injuries to her lower right leg after falling into the gorge, with Cumbria Police calling in the Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) for assistance.
Due to the awkward location, it took the team a total of 68 volunteer hours to finally free the stranded woman once the extent of her injuries had been assessed.
After pain relief was administered, the woman's leg was splintered, with the rescue team eventually able to pull her out through the use of a bell stretcher.
Upon a return to safer terrain, the woman was transferred to the North West Ambulance Services, who took over her further treatment.
