An alternative site for a library in Ulverston is being searched for after it was forced to close last Friday.
The library, situated on King's Road, had to be shut because of issues with the building's electrics discovered during routine checks.
Whilst the establishment has now been made safe, Westmorland and Furness Council have announced that at least a partial service will be required at a different location.
A spokesperson said: "This alternative provision will continue to be in Ulverston and we have been exploring a number of possible locations.
"Discussions are ongoing and we hope to have clearer details soon."
More vulnerable customers have been contacted directly by library staff to ensure they are aware of the situation.
The council apologised for the inconvenience of the closure, acknowledging that the library remains well-used and popular in the community.
