Selside and Grayrigg Show took place in glorious sunny conditions at Little Docker and was enjoyed by both exhibitors and spectators.
The family show included sheep, cattle, produce, handicraft, vegetable and children classes, as well as children’s sports and Cumberland & Westmorland wresting.
The Proctor family claimed the top prizes for overall champion cattle, champion beef animal, champion sheep on the field, the Lancaster & Morecambe Cup for any other breed and The Windermere Perpetual Challenge Cup for most points in the livestock section.
Elsewhere, Matthew Nugent won The Burton Cup for the best young stockperson and the DR&C Galbraith Cup for best young handler; TA & JA Dixon won the Sedwick Cup for the champion Mule, J T Clark & Son Cup to the best pair of gimmer lambs and J Tallon Perpetual Challenge Cup.
Messrs Ladds won the C & J Walling Cup for champion Continental, Johnathon Rigg Cup for best general stock and J A Batty Cup for the best Diary Herd.
TLB & J Knowles claimed the G H Capstick & Sons Cup for the Champion Rough Fell, K Milburn & A Devlin won the Knowles Cup for the best group of Rough Fell females and JB & AEA Longworth won the Wilman Farm Supplies Shield.
The Harold Hodgson Memorial Cup for champion Suffolk was awarded to H Wilson, the Wilson Knowles Memorial Cup was won by J Pewsey & J Park and the Shell Chemicals UK Cup was claimed by IK & AN Grisedale.
JG & PH Thompson & Sons won the Robson Shield for the champion pen of Prime Lambs, Andrew Bateman won the Schweppes Trophy for champion YFC Lamb, Thomas Wilson won The Young Farmers Points Cup and Steve Robertson won the R H Hayton Prize for champion terrier.
Robbie Hutchinson won the RH & S Hunter Cup for best exhibit in the handicraft section and Vera Hodgson won the Ratcliffe Challenge Cup for most points in the vegetable category.
In the children’s categories, Sophie Woof won the RD Burton Cup for best exhibit, John Ellis claimed the HB Hodgson Children’s Handicraft Cup, Elisha Ellis won the Robson Cup, Jack Stevens won the Children’s Committee Cup, Alice Hodgson won the girls category of the Children’s Cup for the most points and Alex Knowles won the boys category.
Colin Kendal, the President of Selside and Grayrigg Agricultural Show, handed out the trophies.
