The Barbon Sheep Show and SheepDog Trials, held on Saturday at Barbon Manor Park, was a resounding success, attracting a great turnout from both visitors and locals alike.
The event, one of the smallest and most traditional gatherings of its kind, offered a variety of activities for the whole family, including a Sheep Show, Stick Show, SheepDog Trials, marquee lunch, and children's craft and sports.
Local farmers showcased their sheep at the show, with Tony Harrison, Rob Walker, and Steven Lawson serving as judges for different categories.
Maddy and Emmy Watson emerged victorious in the Young Handlers Classes, while K. Milburn and A. Devlin took home four trophies with their Rough and Lowland Sheep.
A and H Watson claimed the Champion Mule title, while WA and GR Sedgley won for Champion Leicester lamb and overall Champion.
The stick show boasted impressive entries this year, with S. Whitwell earning recognition for Champion stick and Reserve Champion.
G. Smithson's 'group of 3 sticks' also secured a trophy.
In the SheepDog Trials, John James and his dog Vella came out on top, followed by P. Ellis with dog Tanhill Nan in second place.
J. Bentham with dog Kym, C. Townson with dog Fly, T. Huddleston with dog Lucy, and P. Rugby with dog Kim secured third to sixth place respectively.
The children's sports segment saw an incredible turnout of local children, including some new, young participants.
President Tom Shuttleworth also played a vital role, delivering a speech and assisting throughout the day.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the hard work of the committee, who dedicated their time before, during, and after the show.
Organisers expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the event over the years, whether through attendance or by donating raffle prizes and providing sponsorship.
With the show's continued success, they look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
