A SECTION of the A6 at Shap is closed in both directions due to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, with the air ambulance in attendance.
A South Lakes police officer said that the A6 is currently closed between Shap Summit and Shap Fell Quarry. The officer asked drivers to avoid the area. In the picture the officer put on social media, a Great North Air Ambulance can be seen in the background.
The police gave an update. A spokesperson from the police said: "Police were notified by North West Ambulance services at 3.24pm of a single vehicle collision on the A6 on the road between Shap Lodge and Shap Wells Hotel.
"The collision involved a motorcycle. Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is closed in both directions.
"The rider’s injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening at this point."
