A CUMBRIAN couple plan to jet off to Cuba for a honeymoon next year after getting married in front of family and friends in a small ceremony at Long Acre Barn in Penrith after a 11-year relationship.
Joseph Fell, of Scotby, Carlisle and Zoe Forbes, of Blackford, Carlisle met through friends of friends on a night out a Carlisle night club called Concreate around 12 years ago.
After meeting, they become inseparable and got together November 11, 2012.
Joseph knew Zoe was the one and decided to propose on a mountain.
"Joseph proposed on November 19, 2022, when we were up Blencathra – Sharps edge," Zoe recalls.
"I am surprised he didn’t push me off as I was terrified, I was going to fall.
"I cried my self-up with him trying to encourage me. My excuse was that I took a Hockey stick to my head the week before in a hockey match."
After their engagement was announced, the pair decided on their hen and stag do parties to celebrate with friends and family.
For her hen weekend Zoe went to Angerton cottage in Carlisle and did Zipp Wire adventures in Lakes, whereas Joseph did Axel throwing at Lumber lounge.
Finally, it was the pairs big day on July 15, 2023.
"We didn't have a standard wedding, only small ceremony with immediate family at 11am followed by afternoon Tea Done by Laings Tea Rooms Harker for 20 guests," Zoe explains.
"Then at 4pm we had 140 other guests arrive for party with Hog Roast done by Border Hog Roast Longtown and Tray Bakes Made by MWD’S Bakery Carlisle.
"Everything was done at Long Arce Barn.
"We did not have a theme for the wedding but had lots of bikes where I could as I am a keen cyclist.
"Palace cycles even lent me an Old Fashion Tandem as I used to work at Palace cycles down Botch ergate."
Later that night the couple enjoyed their cake and had their first dance to Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered followed by a Ceilidh done By Thrice Brewed in Harker.
Reflecting on the wedding, Zoe can only think of one best moment. She said: “Seeing Joe all dressed up at end of the aisle was my favourite moment of the day.
"I didn't know what he was wearing as he refused to tell me!"
