Sedbergh has become the latest town in the county to benefit from a regional scheme.
Cumbria Tourism’s ‘MyCumbria’ is a scheme exclusively for residents in the county, offering a range of discounts from 20 per cent off in shops, pubs and cafes, through to 2-for-1 on cinema tickets and county-wide visitor attractions.
As well as offering discounts for locals, it also encourages people to make the most of what Cumbria has to offer. The scheme helps to generate greater footfall and increase custom for a range of retail and tourism-related businesses.
The scheme also aims to give back with 10 per cent of the total MyCumbria income being shared with Cumbria Community Foundation to support all the valuable work they do for communities via the charities they support.
Ben Melling, business development coordinator at Cumbria Tourism, was in Sedbergh recently visiting shops and taking video footage of the town.
An email will be going out to all businesses inviting them to take part at no charge.
Mr Melling said “It was great to be in Sedbergh last week, visiting local businesses, to involve them in the scheme and help, in turn, increase footfall to those businesses. The town has a wealth of independent retailers and these are exactly the type of unique local businesses which work so well for MyCumbria.”
