Organisers of Kendal Calling have issued a traffic warning to festival goers about roadworks nearby.
National Highways have planned works on the M6 between J39 and J40.
This means there will be one less lane on the motorway and therefore it will be susceptible to congestion and traffic delays. Traffic tends to be lighter on the Thursday of the event however it is expected to be busy on Friday (28 July) from midday onwards.
Traffic in and around Penrith surges as the end of the work week approaches due to additional weekend traffic. There is also the changeover for customers to Centre Parcs and the influx of Kendal Calling festival goers.
Organisers have put together the following essential tips and information to ensure you arrive at the festival as hassle free.
"Plan Ahead:
- Please try and arrive at the festival outside of the peak traffic hours of the local area, 12.00-18.00 on Friday 28th July. We will be opening the campsites from 8am in order to help alleviate any potential congestion. Between these peak times, 12:00 – 18:00, delays may be unavoidable due to the local traffic network.
- Better still, arrive on Thursday where we expect a much steadier flow of traffic. The campsites will open from 09:00 and the arena will open from 17:00, ensuring a more relaxed start to the festival with plenty of time to get set up, grab a beer with your mates and of course, catch Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Scouting For Girls & more. Thursday tickets are available here!
- Book your parking ticket in advance. This not only saves you money (£15 in advance, £35 on the day) but more importantly helps us get everyone parked as fast as possible, limiting any delays at the gate. If you are in Emperors Field, Great Plains or Deer Lodge and require additional parking, please be patient, you will receive an email in the coming days with a link to book additional parking.
- Leave early! Beat the rush by leaving early and giving yourself ample time to reach the festival. Avoid the last-minute frenzy and enjoy a relaxed journey.
