There will be a full road closure on a section of road along Little Aynam from Tuesday, May 23.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "As part of the multimillion-pound Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme, Environment Agency contractors are now focused on a section of the scheme’s flood wall along Little Aynam. Once complete, this will better protect homes and businesses specifically around Gooseholme Common and Little Aynam.
“The work which started on Monday 15 May is due to last around 16 weeks, with contractors upgrading the highway’s drainage and constructing a new concrete wall, which will be clad in locally sourced stone.
“In order for contractors to work safely, there will be a full road closure on a section of road along Little Aynam from Tuesday 23 May. We have worked closely with affected residents to inform them of our plans and would like to thank them for their understanding. Traffic will be diverted via Canal Head North and Kirkby Green and the footpath will remain open with pedestrian access to both Gooseholme Common and Gooseholme Bridge.
