A KENDAL care home is to host its biggest ever event to support South Lakes dementia charities.
Heron Hill Care Home, part of Abbey Healthcare, has organised a Dementia Awareness Charity Golf Day at Silverdale Golf Club on Monday, May 15.
Care home manager Nicola Spedding said this is the 'first big event' they have organised with 20 teams of four taking part, and she hopes to be able to raise £2,500, with all proceeds going to the two charities.
Representatives from both charities will be there, as will a local police officer - and Ms Spedding has thrown out an open invitation to the public.
She said: "We'd like to invite people from surrounding villages to come along and have a chat if they have any concerns about people living at home with dementia.

"The police officer will be coming to talk about the Herbert Protocol, a link for people with dementia, so their families can register them with the local police.
"If they go missing, they’re already on the database to be able to find them.
"We link with the police on that and we find that it can be a big help to people."
The event will begin at 1pm and finish at 5pm.
