A WINDERMERE-based software firm has expanded its team to meet the growing demand for its services.
Junior web developer Andy Parks, who was among 100 candidates to apply for the new role, has joined Iosys Web Technologies.
Since lockdown, the company says it has seen an increase in workload, as has its sister company EventEntry, and demand for web-app software design and development.
Twenty-eight-year-old Andy, of Windermere, said: “I’m really excited to have the chance to put the skills I’ve been learning into practice and to keep learning, through getting experience and working alongside Craig Johnson (founder).
"I was wrestling with the prospect of having to move away to find a suitable job in technology, or get a remote position, but I am grateful to have found an opportunity here in Windermere.
"I’m looking forward to getting stuck into some real-world projects and progressing my career in development.
"The first few weeks have been a steep learning curve, but I’m really enjoying it.
"It was a great feeling when my first project went live and I look forward to many more.
Managing director, Craig, added: "Andy was the only candidate to make the effort to include a well-written and descriptive cover letter. His enthusiasm really shone through with a genuine desire to learn and make the position his own.
"We secured a significant and demanding project from London based Every Run Counts. The level of in-depth and dedicated involvement required for the project meant that we needed to balance the demand for other clients, so we’ve grown the team by taking on Andy.
"We were determined to employ a web developer who could work with us in the office rather than remotely – ideally someone who lived locally or was willing to relocate to Cumbria.
"Web development employment opportunities within the Lake District are relatively rare so we were keen to actively encourage and promote local employment."
The company, which relocated o the Lake District from Leicestershire in 2019, gave to local charities and good causes on the occasion of its 10th birthday last year, including a £1,250 donation to Friends of Coniston Mountain Rescue.
