AN injured farmer was taken to hospital after getting trapped in bad weather near Staveley.
Kendal Mountain Rescue Team received a call just after noon on Sunday, April 30 to the farmer, who had suffered a lower leg injury while out tending to sheep at Elfhowe.
16 members of the team sprung into action and found the farmer already cold and wet due to the bad weather conditions.
When the team arrived on the scene he was insulated and protected from the weather, provided with heat blankets, assessed, and given pain relief.
He was then packaged for a stretcher carry to where he could be transferred to a road ambulance manned by the North West Ambulance service.
The rescue operation took three hours in total.
