EMERGENCY services are in attendance at the site of a crash on the M6.

Cumbria Police confirmed just after 2pm today (Tuesday), that the M6 motorway southbound at junction 37 for Kendal and Sebergh, and the A684 interchange in both directions, are closed due to the traffic collision.

Police have said the collision involved two cars and occurred on the A684 fly-over bridge, which is expected to be closed for much of the afternoon.

There is also a closure on the M6 southbound to allow an air ambulance to attend the scene but this is expected to be a short-term closure.

People are urging people to avoid the area and make alternative travel plans which do not involve the A684 fly-over.

Anyone who witnesses the collision is asked to contact police. You can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 125 of 2 May 2023. You can also phone on 101.
