AN APPLICATION for an extension and modifications to a south Cumbria vehicle dealership has been approved.
The work at Bridge End Garage, which sells various makes of car, is to involve internal alterations to the existing showroom to accommodate a Kia showroom.
A section of the current showroom is, in addition, to be demolished to make space for an 'external sales pitch for Kia vehicles'.
A design and access statement was submitted by Unwin Jones Partnership in support of the application for the site, which is located along the A5074 at Levens.
"The existing car parking and display areas are to be remodelled," said the statement.
"A new extension will be constructed off the north elevation of the building. This extension will provide four new vehicle work bays as well as a new MOT facility.

"The extension will also provide new vehicle preparation bays and an increase in the staff welfare facilities."
The scheme is to see a residential property demolished and the space utilised to display used Volvos.
"On the front elevation of the building, there is a covered canopy and fuel pumps," said the design and access statement.
"As part of the proposal, these will be removed."
The application, submitted by Lloyd Motor Group, was given approval by South Lakeland District Council, which has now been replaced by Westmorland and Furness Council.
