A CUMBRIAN based artist has been selected to feature her work in a prestigious gallery in the capital.
Jan Morley, of Arnside, has been selected to feature in the Royal Society of British Artists Bicentennial Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London with her abstract work inspired by the Lake District's 'High Tarn'.
Featuring just over 400 pieces of work, the exhibition is by invitation only, with fierce competition to gain a coveted place.
High Tarn's style reflects Jan's childhood which she spent roaming the countryside, and her connection to nature, alongside a fearless disregard for convention and a determination to follow her instincts.
This adventurous spirit is reflected in her work, conveying some of the raw, wild energy of the landscapes that surrounds her.
She said: "I am inspired by colours, light and reflections, by the juxtaposition of different elements, bleak, windswept moors, lush hillsides and brooding peaks.
"By letting go and working intuitively and quickly I allow an unconscious organic process to take over which enables me to get into the flow. This helps me to capture a sense of the immediacy of the moment and the essence of place."
Her work will be on display until March 11.
