A REPORTED sighting of a missing man more than a decade after he was last seen has prompted a renewed appeal for information.

Police investigating a case of man who has been missing for over 30 years are widening their appeal to the Dundee area after a reported sighting in the mid-2000s.

Keith Woodburn was reported missing in February 1990. Mr Woodburn, who would now be aged 58, was last seen by family members in the summer of the year before.

Mr Woodburn, who spent the majority of his life in Ulverston, was living in Barrow at the time of him being reported missing.

An appeal issued earlier this month generated information of a reported sighting in the Dundee area at some point between 2005 and 2006 – over a decade on from the previous last reported sighting of Mr Woodburn in Aberdeen.

Officers are appealing for anyone in the Dundee area to contact them if they have any information about Mr Woodburn.

They are also once again appealing directly to Mr Woodburn to come forward and confirm he is safe and well.

Doug Marshall, a Police Staff Senior Investigating Officer at Cumbria Constabulary, said: “First of all we would like to thank everyone who has shared our appeal, which has led to information of Mr Woodburn being sighted in the Dundee area in the mid-2000s.

“We are therefore asking people in the Dundee area to report any information they have about Mr Woodburn.

“Our priority remains to establish if he is safe and find answers for his family.”

The image used in this appeal is one of Mr Woodburn some time prior to him being last seen.

The appeal for information follows a review by Cumbria Constabulary’s Force Major Investigation Team.

The team, in line with other UK police forces, periodically review long-term missing person investigations to see if any further lines of inquiry can be completed to attempt to locate them.

Anyone with information on Mr Woodburn’s whereabouts is asked to call 101 and request to speak to Cumbria Police.
