INFORMATION is being sought after a sofa was found fly-tipped at the side of an A-road.
The discarded piece of furniture was left just off the A65 behind The Helm, a hill that overlooks Oxenholme.
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) shared photos of it on social media.
"Fly-tipping is a serious offence," said an SLDC spokesman.
"Prosecution can carry an unlimited fine or imprisonment.
"Householders could also receive a criminal record and be fined up to £400 if their rubbish is illegally dumped by an unlicensed waste carrier."
Members of the public are asked to email locality@southlakeland.gov.uk if they have information that could help the council's investigation.
