A WOMEN’S health coach who has worked in the industry for 10 years believes that more work needs to done.

Anne Stowers, from Cumbria, believes that women’s health is undergoing a ‘much-welcomed revolution’.

Founder of Mission 365 Coaching, Anne works predominantly with females aged over 40 and has now launched ‘Mission Menopause’.

She said: “We are no longer being treated as ‘little men’ and thankfully society is more and more accepting of us standing alongside men, lifting heavy weights, sweating and promoting health first.

“We are different though and it is important that we make the most of the ebbs and flows of our cycles and life stages so we can be stronger, fitter and mentally healthy as we age.”

The one area where Anne feels there is a huge amount of scope for breaking taboos is around the topic of menopause.

“The work of celebrities such as Davina McCall, Mariella Frostrup and Gabby Logan is thankfully shining a huge spotlight on the topic but we are experiencing a North/South divide in accessing reliable, no nonsense advice and provision,” said Anne.

“It’s not just about a few hot flushes; perimenopause and menopause can have a massive impact on your everyday life and relationships. I don’t want women to feel alone in this, there is help and support out there.”

This mission draws on the very best coaches and practitioners in Cumbria; delivering opportunities for groups of women to talk, share and learn in a safe space.

There have already been events across Cumbria, including in Kendal, and there are plans in place to bring sessions to Furness in the future.
