A MOTORWAY bridge that spans the M6 between Kendal and Sedbergh will be closed for several nights to undergo vital repair work.
A National Highways announcement said:
"Essential work is taking place to replace joints on the bridge section of the A684 that spans the M6 at junction 37.
"As part of the scheme, we will also replace the kerb drainage along the full length of the bridge, resurface the road and replace road markings and studs.
"Not taking action to maintain the bridge now risks the safety of road users in the future.
"Work is due to start on Saturday, January 14, and is expected to be completed on Thursday, February 2."
To carry out the work, several overnight road closures of the A684 at junction 37 will be required over the following dates:
- Saturday, January 14 to Sunday, January 15, reopening to traffic at 6 am on Monday, January 16.
- Saturday, January 28 to Wednesday, February 1, reopening to traffic at 6 am on Thursday 2 February.
