In partnership with
CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL
Cumbria County Council is urgently appealing for more people to become foster carers and transform a child’s life by sharing their own in 2023.
You will join a large network of more than 275 fostering families who, along with our staff, are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for around 750 children and young people in care across Cumbria.
Adele Hwozdyk and her husband Lee, from Penrith, have fostered for 13 years and are foster carers for siblings aged 10 and 12.
Adele said: “I really enjoyed being a parent to our own sons and got so much out of it. We felt we’d been very lucky and really wanted to give something back and make a difference to the lives of other children. I can honestly say that fostering is one of the best things we’ve ever done.”
To become a foster carer, you must be at least 21 years old, have a spare bedroom and the time to dedicate yourself to fostering. In return you will receive ongoing training, support and generous payments for each child you foster.
