CHRISTMAS shoppers in Kendal braved the elements and two inches of wet slush to support the Mayor of Kendal’s Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday.

Brilliantly entertained by the Kendal Concert Band, and singers and dancers from Stagecoach and Dance Atikk, teas, coffees, and mince pies were served by volunteers from the Town Council.

The event, which has taken place in the Town Hall Assembly Rooms on a Saturday before Christmas for over fifty years, had a two-year break for Covid.

Town Council Events Officer Flo McMahon said 'it was lovely to be back, with the band, dancers, and singers sounding as great as ever'.

Mayor of Kendal Councillor Doug Rathbone said:  "It was great to see the people of Kendal making it through the snow and the slush.

"Our Town Clerk doubled as Town Crier for the morning and despite the horrid conditions, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves."

The Coffee Morning raised funds for the Mayor's Charities - Christians against Poverty and The Well Communities, with over £200 taken on the door and the raffle.

Mince pies were generously donated by Morrisons and Sainsburys.
