Kendal Ladies Hockey Club lost 4-1 to Lancaster in the second to last North West Women’s Premier Division League game before the Christmas Break.
The team who play all their home games at Queen Katherine School’s 3G despite their best efforts continue to struggle as they remained second from bottom in the table.
Kendal started brightly however Lancaster were soon in control and were dominant before opening the scoring after eight minutes.
Lancaster doubled their lead six minutes later with a close range finish, however Kendal continued to play some good passing hockey as they opened up some huge gaps in the last third of the pitch.
Despite opening up the Lancaster defence, the goal wouldn’t come, with Abby going the closest with a fierce shot from a corner before Lancaster scored their third goal from a short corner.
Kendal made a positive start and dominated the second half, while Lancaster struggled to gain any ball for the first ten minutes.
Nicola Hartley went on a solo run before seeing her shot on goal well saved by the keepers glove, while Abby and Ailsa dominated midfield with Zoe looking dangerous.
Kendal continued to dominate after Katies shot went wide before the Lancaster defence cleared off the line on two occasions.
Against the run of play Lancaster scored their fourth goal following a spell of possession while Kendal eventually got on the scoresheet after Zoe scored with a well taken strike.
In the other games Kendal Mens drew 3-3 at Preston while the Ladies second team lost 6-1 to Kirkby Stephen.
Kendal Ladies First Team are away to Deeside Ramblers on Saturday while the Ladies seconds play host to Carlisles Second team at 11am.
