A CARNFORTH roastery has celebrated raising an incredible amount of funds for mental health charities.
Carringtons Coffee Co. Suzy and Alex Carrington, the husband and wife Co-Founders of Carringtons has reached £1000 in support of Blackdog Outdoors.
Supporting a mental health charity was a priority for Carnforth-based roasters Carringtons Coffee Co. when they set up their ethically-sourced single origin roastery in 2020.
Donating 30p from every bag of coffee they sell, including wholesale, they’ve reached a grand total of £1000 to date in support of mental health charity Blackdog Outdoors.
Every £150 raised pays for a Mountain Leader at Blackdog Outdoors events.
Blackdog Outdoors organises free-to-attend outdoor activities, to help bolster poor mental health. Through these activities, as well as providing encouragement and support, Blackdog can help people engage with outdoor recreation, as well as provide a support community to help lift the dark cloud of poor mental health.
Activities range from paddle boarding to climbing, walking, and biking, and each event is managed by qualified outdoor professionals and mental health first aiders.
Blackdog have supported 1,961 people, across 233 events throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.
Andrew Higson, Director of Blackdog Outdoors said: “Every week, one in six of us will experience symptoms of a common mental health problem.
"It’s not always easy for people to get support. We are passionate about promoting the benefits of outdoor activities and nature, and support from companies like Carrington’s allows us to continue to do so.
"We love working with a company that cares about our mission, and their support is invaluable to the events we work so hard to provide.”
Carringtons donations have helped fund the paid professionals who manage Blackdog Outdoors events.
As Carringtons continues to grow, owners Suzy and Alex look forward to seeing the impact their continued contribution will have on the charity’s growth.
Suzy, Co-Founder of Carringtons Coffee Co said: “We knew when we started Carringtons Coffee that we wanted any business success to circle back into the community.
"This charity is close to our hearts, and we’re over the moon to have reached the £1000 figure. Onwards and upwards, we hope, as we continue to support this charity - which is becoming ever-more valuable.”
