MINNA Dufton's debut documentary Big vs Small will screen at Brewery Arts on Thursday November 24.
Big vs Small is about big wave surfer Joana Andrade, the 'tiny fighter' who surfs the biggest waves in the USA.
The documentary features Joana travelling to Heinola in Finland for breath training under the ice with free diver Johanna Nordbiad.
When filmmaker Minna Dufton came across a BBC news article about women big wave surfers she was attracted to the genre. She told the Finnish Institute: "Female empowerment has inspired me before and I knew I wanted to make another film about a woman who did something pretty extraordinary."
Brewery Arts described the film as 'a modern-day fairytale stretching from the raging waves in the south to the dark stillness of a far-north, frozen Finnish lake. It explores what happens when two elite female champions share their extraordinary talent with each other.'
Big vs Small will be screened on November 24 at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased on the Brewery Arts website or by calling 01539 725 133.
