THE daughter of a smitten bride and groom chose a bee-themed wedding for her parents' big day.
Emma Jane Louise Jansen, 34, and Peter Cahill, 44, tied the knot in an intimate wedding in front of their nearest and dearest.
The couple, who are both from Barrow, first met online over Facebook in December 2014.
"We got talking as friends and grew more to like each other," said Emma.
"Peter asked me out on a date after talking for a few months over Facebook. He was meant to have originally taken me to Lancaster but he was quite nervous and shy and missed the turn off, then he said let's go to Preston but he missed that too and we ended up spending the day in Blackpool where we were endlessly going on the 2p games. I liked Peter as he was genuine and had a caring side that was easy to talk to."
The lovestruck pair decided to get married and said 'I do' on October 28 at the Nan Tait Centre in Barrow in front of 19 people.
"It was amazing," said Emma.
"The weather on the day was perfect. The sun was shining the whole day.
"We asked our daughter Charlotte what she would like to be in the wedding and she said bees so we ended up going with a bee-themed wedding as our daughter is passionate about her bees and wanting to protect them.
"We asked a few local suppliers if they could help with our ideas. We had an amazing friend of mine Nikita Jane Gibson that hand crocheted all the bouquets for my wedding."
The newlyweds let their daughter, who has a neuromuscular and genetic disorder, have a big say in their wedding day plans.
Emms said: "We let our daughter have more of a say as she's been through a lot with her condition which is still under testing. The best part was the two flower girls playing while getting ready. It had me and the maid of honour Louise in stitches the whole time. Wee had some photos taken down at the abbey and then after had a small meal at the King Alfred in Barrow. Everyone loved it.
"We had quite a lot of little touches with bees kept in mind like cards with wildflower seeds inside.
"We also got some bee jewellery from Ivy and Ted's Treasures as she knew how bee mad my daughter was so we gave all the bridal party bee jewellery for the day.
"We also had keepsake converse made with a bee design in mind with the little flower girls' names on the back and mine and the maid of honour's on the sides with bee charms on each of the shoes.
"We loved it because everyone that helped out has been amazing and local with the exception of a few suppliers but mostly local to Barrow.
"We ended the celebrations by 8pm to help our daughter as her legs were in pain but we loved everything and couldn't have had a more perfect day."
