KENDAL’s Inter Faith Week will see two sessions a day hosted by the South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership (SLEDP).
The home sessions will be held during Inter Faith Week at 7am and 7pm from November 13 and 20.
Interfaith will also have a meeting at the Quaker Friends Meeting House in Stramongate on November 16 at 10:30am until 1pm.
AWAZ Cumbria and the South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership (SLEDP) will present talks on interfaith by Dave Bullard has been a Quaker all his life, with a long career in education.
Since retirement he has taken a great interest in the Buddhist Faith, particularly following the Vietnamese Buddhist, Thich Nhat Hanh. His talk is about the Quaker Peace Testimony which originated in South Lakeland.
Imam Abdur Rashid was born in Carlisle, Cumbria. He is the Imam, leader of the Muslims who congregate, attend or are connected to Carlisle Islamic Centre. He has been active in interfaith dialogue and events as the Imam there and intends to continue to build bridges with all communities on humanitarian grounds of peace, collaboration, and education.
The aims of South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership are:
- Seek to reduce inequality on the grounds of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, rurality and religion/ belief
- Celebrate diversity and reduce discrimination
- Improve the life chances and opportunities for people who live, work and visit South Lakeland
